I am interested in how location and boundaries shape identity; through my practice I strive to understand more about how my experiences have shaped me. I test my hypotheses on the public through sculpture and installation.

Often my work begins as a self-reflexive gesture, expanding to become less a selfish exercise and more an exploration of shared experiences and encounters that vacillate between the ridiculous or impossible and the mundane.

I am interested in using materials at hand, including scrap wood, metal and dust. I am interested in using readily available intellectual material: the mechanics behind my kinetic work are developed using Wikipedia entries and YouTube videos of machines posted by proud factory owners. This material not only acts as surrogate to a background in woodworking, metalworking or engineering but creates a secret bond between my activities and the activities of those outside my discipline.
